Services I offer
Life changes happen at any stage in our life and within status. Transitionally from college to the workforce can be difficult. Being able to express those feelings to a trusted therapist who can walk with you in your journey can help you feel like you are neither isolated or alone in this transition.
Struggling with infertility is also trying to maneuver around all the IVF jargon, terminology, calendaring, office visits, medications, etc. The right therapist will guide you through the plethora of reasons why going to therapy is needed to care for your emotional health as an individual and/or as a couple.
Dr. Hunter is a certified Prepare/Enrich facilitator. Prepare/Enrich is a premarital and marriage assessment to help strengthen your relationship. Using both this assessment and therapy, couples can gain more information and insight about their relationship and ways to strengthen their relationship.
Are you feeling stuck in the same looping patterns of feeling misunderstood or unheard from your partner? Is there miscommunication or a fighting cycle that is continuous? This may be a time to work on ways to communicate more effectively and learn tools to address the hot topics without falling into being defensive or shut down.
You may have reached a critical crossroads in your marriage: either you, your spouse, or both of you are thinking of getting a divorce. For most people, this isn’t a decision to be taken lightly, and many couples need time to think before choosing to dissolve a longstanding partnership. If you’re in this situation, discernment counseling may help you find your way forward.
My Areas of Expertise
Sometimes we can get thrown into changes we weren’t ready for: a personal or family member with a medical diagnosis, an unexpected death of a loved one, struggles with infertility, a global pandemic or relationship challenges. Maybe the change is welcomed: a recent engagement or marriage, the birth of a child, graduation, or a child moving on to college. Regardless of whether these changes are expected or unexpected, wanted or unwanted, I am confident that changes can be embraced in the midst of our joy or grief. The heart of my therapeutic approach is the belief that we can become our own resources when we learn new ways to approach our issues or situation. I believe individuals, couples, and families have the ability to change—sometimes we just need some assistance to do so. With over 20 years of experience working with couples, individuals, and families, I have helped many clients obtain the tools necessary to improve their lives.
