Insurance and Out-of-Network Provider Information
I do not contract with insurance. Here’s why: The insurance model requires an “identified patient” and diagnosis, which conflicts with the systemic approach essential to couples therapy. It can undermine the work by making one partner the focus rather than the relationship.
However, I can provide a superbill for both individual and couples sessions if you wish to submit for possible out-of-network reimbursement. Please check with your insurance provider regarding your benefits.
Contact your insurance company directly to find out if you have out of network benefits (PPO, POS or out-of-network is often printed on your insurance card). Below are some questions to ask your insurance provider when you call the number on the back of your insurance card:
- Do I have out-of-network mental health insurance benefits? (Some companies call these behavioral health benefits.)
- What is my deductible and has it been met?
- How many sessions per year does my health insurance cover?
- What is the coverage amount per therapy session?
- Is approval required from my primary care physician?
- What is the address to send my “super bill” or invoice in order to be reimbursed?
Cancellation Policy
Your time is reserved for you. To maintain fairness and protect availability for all clients:
- 24 hours’ notice is required for cancellations or reschedules.
- Cancellations within 24 hours or no-shows will result in the session fee ($185).
- You may convert your in-person session to a virtual session by emailing me in advance.
This policy ensures I can serve both current clients and those waiting for openings while maintaining a viable practice. Thank you for respecting these boundaries.
