We are in the thick of it! The school year is in full swing. Schedules have filled. Routines are established. Busy, like life, can be a four-letter word at times. How we take care of ourselves and our relationships matter. We feed what grows. How are you nurturing yourself? Are you getting enough sunlight (safely) and movement? Do you and your partner have regular check-ins and date nights? Have you learned your child’s school routine and in the ‘know’ of the cafeteria friends? These details matter. How are you slowing down and showing up?

I encourage you to be present for yourself and for those around you. If there is unresolved grief, trauma or pain keeping you from being mindful, reach out to a mental health professional. Therapists are trained to look for thoughts and patterns that may be keeping you from taking care of yourself or remaining present. A skilled therapist can help provide ways of living intentionally. What are ways you would like to show up for yourself and/or for loved ones?

Therapy is not just for people going through a crisis. While it can be effective in those times, therapy can also be a tool to prevent yourself from getting lost or caught in the curveball’s life can throw at us. While seeing a dentist may not prevent a cavity, it sure does help having someone show us places we could be flossing or brushing better—especially in the places that we can’t see. A trained therapist can help you by guiding you through emotions or thoughts that may be causing you to feel stuck, isolated, or numbing out instead of being present. Reach out and let’s create a plan.
